This is a throw back to the supper club era of old Wisconsin. Many of the diners know each other and are on a first name basis with the waitresses and cook and owner. Don't come here if you're looking for fast food. You need to be patient with the waitresses and the cook when the place is full or at popular times. That's because a lot of tlc goes into preparing your food. Have a delicious old fashion drink while you wait. Or two. They're very reasonable. The cream of mushroom soup is outstanding. The perch is great. So is the cod and shrimp. And you must order the fries. They are so crispy and yummy. They also have wonderful German potato salad as a side. Okay, yes I love this place and was very disappointed in the previous reviews. Who cares if the place isn't decorated fancy or the bar is divey? The point is the food is excellent and the servers are attentive. Prices aren't bad either. Those are the three most important features of a restaurant in my opinion and Village Inn scores high marks for all three. Can't wait to go back.

I was in there a couple of days ago ordered ribs and had 8 inch hair hanging off the meat they never offered to discount my dinner or comp me it was a joke to them won't be going back there for a long time

Very disappointing and overpriced. A piece of baked haddock (very small) and 3 tiny shrimp....for almost 12 bucks? Really? No soup, no salad.....ice cream scoop of coleslaw and a soup cup of baked beans to share with 3 people? Waitress and hostess were professional......dingy bar setting....would not recommend ever.

Good food at reasonable prices but with lackluster service brings the point score down. Same as it was last time we were here about 6 months ago.
